Your Clermont pool builder
Clermont is known as the Gem of the Hills, and for good reason. The rolling terrain, the chain of lakes and the long views make it one of the most distinctive places to live in Central Florida. They also make it one of the most interesting places to build a pool. Blue Dream Pools has been designing and building custom gunite pools for Lake County and West Orange homeowners since 2004, and we are locally owned since 2004, with our office just east of Clermont on Plant Street in Winter Garden.
Clermont’s hills are part of the Lake Wales Ridge, a long band of ancient sand dunes that runs down the center of the state. That geology shapes a pool project. Ridge soils are deep, sandy and fast-draining, which is good for runoff but means excavations have to be planned with care. Many Clermont lots slope toward a lake or a neighbor, so we often design retaining walls, raised bond beams, stepped decks or a raised spa that turns the grade into a feature instead of a problem. We look at your lot, the drainage paths and where the equipment can sit quietly before we draw anything, and we engineer the gunite shell for the site.
Permitting depends on where your home sits. Homes inside the City of Clermont are permitted by the city’s Building Services division, which checks applications for completeness and reviews plans for the Florida Building Code and local rules on zoning, drainage and floodplains. Homes outside city limits with a Clermont mailing address are often in unincorporated Lake County, which permits through the county’s Office of Building Services. We confirm the right jurisdiction for your parcel, prepare engineered plans and hydraulic calculations, and pull the permit as a Florida certified pool and spa contractor (CPC1460083).
Many Clermont neighborhoods have a homeowners association with architectural guidelines. HOA or ARB approval is the homeowner’s step, and we don’t submit it for you. We do give you a clean set of plans and the details boards usually ask about, such as setbacks, equipment placement and enclosure height, so your submittal is straightforward. Once your board signs off, we take it from there with the permit and construction.
Clermont homeowners tend to live outside. Families here ask for sun shelves for little ones, spas for after a long ride or run on the hills, outdoor kitchens and decks big enough for a crowd. Lakefront and hilltop lots often call for a vanishing edge or a raised wall with water features that catch the view. Because we build in gunite, the shape, depth and features are completely custom. We finish with quartz plaster or Wet Edge pebble, tile and decking you choose, and Hayward equipment with variable-speed pumps, automation and LED lighting.
Every pool we build is custom, so we don’t publish prices. We send an itemized proposal after your consultation, with each part of the project listed so you can see exactly what you are getting. Consultations and office visits are by appointment only.
Here is how a Clermont project usually runs. It starts with a design consultation, by appointment, where we talk about how you want to use the yard, look at the lot and note anything that affects the build, from slope and drainage to access for equipment. Next we prepare a design and send an itemized proposal. When you are ready, you take the plans to your HOA if you have one, and we prepare the engineered drawings and submit the building permit to the City of Clermont or Lake County. Construction follows the usual sequence: layout, excavation, steel, plumbing and electrical, gunite, tile and coping, decking, equipment, and finally the interior finish and start-up. Inspections happen at the required stages along the way. When the pool is filled, we walk you through the equipment and how to care for your new finish.
